Austins 3 Reasons Why We Can't Lose Stubborn Belly Fat

“How Can I Lose this Stubborn Belly Fat!?”

Probably one of the most asked questions coaches and trainers get asked is “how can I lose my belly fat!?” I do this I do that and for some reason I just can’t lose this dang belly! As much good intention each of these people have and believe they are doing or have tried, they might not be telling the whole truth or more important, it may be more than just trying to “eat cleaner”. As stated before and I’ll keep saying, everyone’s different and not everyone can follow the same exact thing. Besides having a good workout routine and staying active, there could be more variables at play when it comes to becoming healthier rather than just saying eat this or eat that. Let’s look at some of the things that come into play or we need to understand why this may be.

What are we Really Eating?

Nutrition, Nutrition, and wait for it….Nutrition! We really need to be honest about our nutrition intake. We may be eating good for the most part, but when we have those sneaky snacks that we may not think about too much can add up in the long run. Just because a food may say:

  • Gluten Free

  • Low Fat

  • Sugar free

Doesn’t mean it actually has any of those ingredients in the food. We mostly will find these in packaged or canned foods with labels like these. Make sure to stick to more real whole foods instead and we may start to see a difference after that. Also don’t forget it, even though it goes without saying, make sure to drink more water especially as soon as you wake up in the morning due to our bodies being dehydrated and a good way to kickstart your metabolism.

Are we Resting? Or just Barely Sleeping

Are we getting enough rest? If not, that could be another reason why. Lack of sleep will not allow our bodies and minds to not just rest, but recover well from a previous workout. There’s a lot more stress in this world right now which can have our minds running wild and unable to unwind and slow down which in turn, can raise cortisol levels which can start storing more body fat. Having a good sleep ritual prior to going to sleep can help our minds to unwind and relax our minds and bodies better.

Different Possible Reasons

Some unique reasons why we can’t get rid of that stubborn belly fat could be because of our:

  • Environment

  • Mindset

  • Specific health reasons(gut health, digestion, high blood pressure, thyroid, etc) that need to be addressed by a qualified health professional

  • For women, it could be recovering from having a baby(even though it is still possible to get back to what we were before or even better).

We may not be too aware of these factors in our lives. Don’t worry, I didn’t consider them either for a long time which is why I’m passing it along to you all. When we start to become aware of our entire lives, we can then start to address them one by one and take our first steps to achieving our goals after that. Make sure to look at the whole picture instead of just one part of the frame.

Bottom Line

Really look at what we are eating on a regular week and see what we need to start addressing one by one. Be honest and make sure to read the label before buying anything. Sleep and rest is just as important as having a good workout and eating better. Having a good nighttime routine can start helping that. Looking at our entire lives as a whole comes into play when we really want to achieve our goals. It may be tough, but we are the only ones that can change and address what we need to do. Something else to keep in mind is that it may be something that causes issues for the rest of our lives. The older we get our bodies will change and get harder and harder for us to address. The best thing we can do is have self love for ourselves and not get so caught up on it. Becoming the best versions of ourselves will look different from person to person. There is no "perfect way" to look. Staying healthy and happy is what it's all about in the end.
