Rolling Your Pain Away with a....Golf ball?

“Who said anything about golfing”?

 

As much as we all like and respect the game of golf, no one's saying to go out and buy a bunch of clubs, tees, and go out to the driving range. There is however, a good use for the golf ball itself that can help your muscles and joints out. By simply rolling the bottom of your foot it can have such a positive effect on your entire body.  

 

“That’s crazy talk”!

 

It sounds insane I know, I thought the same thing as you are right now. People never really realize how tight the bottom of their feet can be or how the ankles have little to no mobility in them. Doing this can help prevent the risk of injury in your lower body by helping the muscles and joints do what their primary functions are to do. Not only that, it has other benefits in helping taking pain away in your:

  • Hips

  • Knees

  • Shoulders.

     

 

Not Just Sports

 

Even if you don't like sports, not an athlete, or not even a runner, you should be doing

this at some point in the day. It will help  just taking a regular walk down the street with the dog (assuming you have one). The body is all connected so a pain somewhere now, could cause a pain somewhere else down the road in another part of the body. Something I’ve learned  from a guy by the name of Gray Cook about this and he quoted saying

“The more mobile you are, the more potential you have to move well. When mobility is able to be controlled, then you get functional movement. “

So you can think of it like this:

  • Ankle pain goes to knee pain

  • Knee pain goes to hip pain

  • Hip pain to lower back

  • Lower back to mid back

  • Back to shoulders and the list goes on

“What do you think of that?”

 

Just that little roll on your foot can help prevent future pain and discomfort down the road. I don't know about you, but if there was a  way to help prevent injuries or pain, I’d be all over it. It's all connected.
